Keep Those Tires Good While storing the car

When storing a classic car for a year or more, protecting your tires is critical to preserving their shape, integrity, and longevity. Ideally, the car should be stored in a cool, dry indoor environment with minimal sunlight exposure to prevent UV damage. Before parking it for long-term storage, inflate the tires to the upper recommended pressure to help them resist developing flat spots. It's also wise to thoroughly clean the tires and wheels beforehand, removing dirt, brake dust, and road grime that can accelerate deterioration over time.

If the car will remain stationary for extended periods, consider placing it on high-quality tire cradles or tire saver ramps. These devices help distribute the vehicle’s weight more evenly across the tire’s surface, reducing the risk of flat-spotting. If cradles aren't available, slightly rolling the car a few inches forward or backward every month can also help prevent flat spots from forming. Avoid placing the vehicle on jack stands for long periods, as this can stress the suspension unnaturally. With a few careful steps, your classic car's tires will remain healthy and ready to hit the road when the time is right.
